Brian Newton, owner and president of Brian’s Masterpiece Inc.; came to the Las Vegas Valley in 1978; after four years of being an apprentice and learning the trade within one week of completion of the apprentice program he became a foreman. Brian worked under seasoned hardwood floor craftsmen whom had 40 to 50 years of experience. Brian learned from these excellent craftsmen whom worked with hand tools more precisely then most tradesman are able to perform with current modern power equipment.
Upon receiving his contractor’s license in Carpentry in 1978; (installation of hardwood flooring) he opened his business under the name of Custom Hardwood Floors. Population of Las Vegas at that time was 300,000.
Brian’s first contract in Las Vegas was for the Desert Inn Hotel & Casino Portafino Restaurant. The floors which he personally installed, stood the test of time, and they existed until the building was torn down in 2002 to build the Wynn Hotel. This initial project created instant success. Marnell–Corrao Contracting was Nevada’s largest construction firm at the time; and soon Custom Hardwood Floors, became the requested company for the installation of hardwood floors in commercial applications
As Las Vegas began to flourish in the 80’s building custom homes became more prevalent as gated communities such as Spanish Trails began to develop. With honed skills and a desire to perform more creative woodwork then the confines of the Strip hotels; Brian pursued this newly expanding custom home market and in November, 1985 Brian’s Masterpiece, Inc. was established. Thru word of mouth and many satisfied clients in the custom home market, he achieved his desired passion and ultimate goal of performing custom wood work, and made the decision to close Custom Hardwood Floors; concentrating soley on installing and finishing custom hardwood flooring in residential communities, custom homes, and occasional commercial projects desiring custom woodwork, staining and /or finishing.
